ts100 power shift question

looking at a ts100 with electric 4 range and 16 speed shifters.

If you shift, a yellow light comes on showing a "Book" and it beeps...

If I take my foot and pull throttle pedal up and idle it down, it will shift fine. Its idling fast.

Whats up with that?

Left lever is forward, neutral, reverse. next lever is two ranges, and the next lever is two ranges. The middle lever has the up and down 4 ranges on it.

Are these tractors problematic? Its also a 4wd... that part seems to work ok... thoughts????

Thanks

Clearly, something is amiss, probably not terribly serious if it shifts properly at times. Without running the onboard diagnostics for the transmission it's impossible to say what is wrong. Throttle issue is linkage related; cable return spring, etc. Transmission shifting shouldn't be related to ERPM's. These transmissions are not known to be terribly problematic, basic design goes back to the first 40 series Fords that came out in 1991.

It shifts fine if I idle it down to normal speed. Its there a conditional check? RPM checK? A computer monitor that prevents the ranges from being changed unless its at idle? Guess I need to get an owners manual on that one to see what its suppose to do.. I apparently won the bid, so it will come home with me next week with another ford, couple of shredders and some skid steer equipment. I hate to get into the stuff I am not as familiar with. thanks..

What is the system voltage at low idle vs high idle? Maybe an
overcharge condition is messing with the ECU. I can't say I've
ever run into what you are describing.

okay so it should shift at any rpm?

Its only when selecting the range lever that you have the problem. the up and down buttons don't seem to be an issue.

could bad alt or something, but again, under 1000 rpm, the range levers shift fine,, when above, as about 1200 rpms the system beeps 4 or 5 times and the yellow light comes on. I was assuming there is built in safety to keep you from shifting ranges when at higher rpms. I will probably pick the the tractor Sunday or Tuesday. Seems there's a presidents day involved???

It should shift all ranges/speeds and directions at any ERPM. Whether you should or not is up to you.

Thanks Rick, that was what I was after.

I have grown up on 1950's tractors and owned up to the 80's.. Anything much newer and I am pretty well out of it.. Even the electric pto button is an anomaly for me. This one will be a challenge. I know on the cluster, the two speed and other indicator are kind of melted and not visible. I had to go to the new holland site to see what those little display windows were.

I'm back up to 11 Fords again, A jd4430 and Int 1086... I did pick up a nice 740 with a combo sherman last week so have it in the shop cleaning it up. Will take some pictures when I get it cleaner as it was the color of rust when I got it. When ever I get up to 13,, my wife makes me start selling and we start all over again.
