Holy uneven ring wear batman!

So I posted pics of the toasted pistons from my 3cyl gas 3000 the other day. Just went to disassemble what was left - the "good" piston's top ring was worn down to .035" WIDE in some spots. None of the rings will stay in the bore, they're too far gone - they drop right through with a 5/16" or greater end gap.

Really hoping a new set of rings will seal it up.

Question though - What do they mean by Side Clearance? Manual specs Top compression .0046-.0029"
2nd compression .045-.0025" and Oil control .0031-.014

This isn't the clearance between the ring and ring lands is it?

And what's Radial Wall Thickness-Top (& intermediate) measuring?

The answer is yes. My take the rings on gassers get to hot with the larger dish in the gas pistons there is less meat behind the rings than a diesel letting them run hotter. Used rings from a gas motor seem to have less temper than used diesel rings.
