900 ford 3pt when I bought it if I left out in
the 30 degree day it would have to idle for 15
minutes before it would lift. I changed oil in
trans, hyd, rear end. I used universal trans
hyd oil. It worked at first but it was jittery
going up. I let it sit for a while now 2 weeks
and inside a heated shop and it won't lift? It
does have 2 hydraulic auxiliary hoses.

Did you prime the pump?
There's a square plug on the top front of the pump.
Take that out, engine off and fill it with the same UTF.
Put the plug back in, then start it up and try it.

Sounds like it is loosing prime.

The OEM plug is an allen head. Remove it and prime the pump. leave it loose to bleed the air out of the valve chambers before tightening.

If it will not hold prime you will probably need to change the shaft seal.

Mine is the newer one the piston pump. Any pictures of the bleed plug location? Thanks. I can lift the arms right up with my hands to.

There is no down force on the lift arms. You should be able to lift them, but don't lift them too high or the end of the cylinder rod may come out of the cup in the lift arm and then you'll have to take the top cover off just to put it back in place.

The bleeder plug is part labeled #3 in the parts diagram. [u:4c9f1c4547]Click Here.[/u:4c9f1c4547]

Here you go. This one has the correct allen head plug.

Can also use that plug to bleed air from the system, if you have air, sometimes to pump loses prime and won't lift the arms.

Just pull the coil wire, and remove the plug, crank it until you see good fluid coming out and then put the plug back in while still cranking. Should only take a second or two to see good fluid and no air.

Thanks for all the info. I got it bled now. It still seems jittery to me going up? Or is that the way they are with me stranding on the arms 200 lbs.seems slow too? How can I check it out better

JMDucks1,

Jittery means that the pump is not working 100% yet.

There may be more air in the system. Bleed it more to see if there is still air.
Pump may be pulling in air though a bad seal. May have to replace the seals in pump.
Something in the pump may have broke. I had a spring break on one of the check valves in my pump. The system was slow and jittery.
Air may be getting into the system from other areas. O-rings could have gone bad at one of the connections.
It may help to "Work it" to get the oil and the tractor up to temp and moving the oil around well. That may even get an O-ring to expand and get sealed back up.

Some things to check.

It shouldn't be jittery or slow.
There is a procedure for bleeding that involves putting a hose
barb in place of that plug and running a clear hose from the barb
into the fill plug then running the tractor while exercising the lift.
Clear hose lets you see air in the line.
You might try that to see what you get.
