Need help identifying a Ford tractor

I recently bought a Ford TLB that was listed as a 641. After I got it home and started looking investigating the markings, I suspect it is not. I found stamped on the transmission (behind the starter) the following numbers: 40306 74196. I have read that the model number for the 600 series is supposed to be ABOVE the serial number. In this case these two numbers are in line with each other. I checked the engine mark on the lower right hand side and it reads EAF-6015-J. Decoding the model/serial number and the engine mark leads me to believe it is a 1000 series tractor, but it has the egg crate style grill of the 800-900 series and other things do not match up. It has a Select-O-Speed transmission, adjustable front end, and since it has a loader and a backhoe on it, it has PTO outputs on both front and back. I would appreciate any help on identifying this tractor. Thanks G

40306

4 - 172 CID Engine

0 - Prior to 1963

30 - Light Industrial with Non Adjustable Front Axle.

6 - SOS w/Hydraulics, 500, 1000, and Ground Speed PTO

74196 if that's correct and a serial number, after talking to Tony a while back, would make it an actual 1965 tractor as they had to restart the 4cyl line due to a strike/parts shortage at the plant making the 3cyl tractors.

That might also explain why the parts seem to be mismatched on the tractor. As I'm sure they used what came at hand while running the plant in 65'.

Pictures would help a ton, I know there are guys on here that can tell you what you have just by looking at it.

You said it has a backhoe on it, is it attached with a 3pt hitch or mounted directly to the tractor?

I have uploaded some photos of the tractor. The backhoe appears to be connected to the tractor not the three-point.

It looks like you have a "mutt" which is a tractor built from parts from several tractors. The tractor appears to be a basic 1958-1962 871/881 with a transmission that came from a later 4000 series tractor. The EAF engine block was used from 1955-1957. The front axle is a standard Utility/Ag axle- not an industrial 1 piece axle.
