I have been having issues with my ford 860 not running well. It started not dying out when getting hot. Here are the fixes I started doing: cleaned air filter, put new spark plugs, put new cylanoid and condenser. Ran pretty good for a while so I cleaned fuel line and carb, now it may run for 5 minutes then shuts off. At what's end and need a solution.

Look in the archives. the 860 is known for the gas line boiling, it runs behind the hot manifold. Id reroute it around the engine and switch to non ethanol gas which doesn't boil at such a low temp. some people don't agree, but it worked for me. the hotter the weather the sooner it starts to miss? Keep the tank full, I even insulated the gas line. You may have other problems, but consider this if the symtoms agree with a heat problem.

When it shuts off again immediately get out of the seat, pull a plug wire and check your spark.
You should get a bright bluish-white spark that jumps 3/8". Short or yellowish spark will not do.
Post back.

Ditto what UD said. Immediately verify spark. If it has spark, look at fuel, including vacume at tank.

The solenoid (cylanoid) has nothing to do with this. If it runs 5 minutes and dies, it's either getting the coil hot or it's not getting fuel. Check for good blue spark at the plugs and good fuel flow out the bottom of the carb.

JimmyJack: Two questions from your posting:

1. Where do you find non ethanol gas in any quantity?

2. What did you use to insulate your gas line with
and where did you get it from? I'd like to insulate
my 861 gas line.

We have several stations that supply good gas. I go to a shell and Kwick trip. Use it in all my tractors and small engines. I got some pipe wrap from the insulators at work. Don't really know where you could buy it. J
