Draft Mode 75 2000

I have to clean up a rutty field. I have the implements...disc, box blade, scraper blade, chisel plow. If my draft mode lever is in the up position (non draft mode I think) and I have the 3 point position control all the way down, will the implement stay on the ground as I go over little swales?
Should I put it in draft mode for this job?
I heard draft mode is for ground engaging implements??

The 3 point system does not have down force, so the only thing pushing down on your implements is gravity from the weight of the implement itself. It is essentially always in "float" mode.

The difference between position mode and draft mode:

When in position mode the control handle sets the lift postion, or minimum height of the implement. External forces, like the ground itself, can push the implement higher, but it will not go lower than the set height.

When in draft mode, the control handle sets how hard you want it to draft, meaning that if a ground engaging implement encounters an obstacle that provides more resistance than what you have the handle set for, then the system lifts the implement until the resistance becomes lower than what you have the handle set for, and it gradually lowers the implement after that until it gets to an equilibrium point with the draft resistance, or the lowest position in the range of travel of the arms, whichever comes first.

Meaning.. that if your plow or disc is digging in and stalling the tractor or spinning the wheels, draft mode can help you. If its all the way down and the tractor is pulling just fine, then no, daft mode will not do much for you.

If your tractor is loading up or spinning, you can set the draft mode so that just before it spins or hangs up, the pressure will start to pick up the plow or disc. You adjust it up or down abit as the soil conditions change. wetter soils will require a lighter(higher) setting. With correct draft setting you can plow as deep as possible and the plow will be adjusted up and down to as needed to keep the tractor out of trouble. Really nice when your out there all day long. draft will only work with a plow or disc that will put pressure on the top link. New fords(3000) would also sense "pull" for long plows as well as "push".. Great for soil conditions that change in the field.. when you get to soft or wet spots, the plow would start to go too deep and as the pressure on the tractor increase, it adjusted itself and kept going. Really nice with ripping with a renovator each year on the red clay packs.

As for your question about the "little swales". If the ground is hard enough to lift the weight of the implement, then the implement will ride up and over the swales. If you use the disc and/or chisel plow first to break everything up, then the box blade or scraper blade should stay down and smooth things out for you.

And as having hydraulic cylinder on top link verses fixed, 62 971, draft mode will float the plow? It seems like it does on mine. Only plow garden and little food plots so same soil everytime.
