CAV injector pump

I took the line off the back where the fuel feeds to change the filter. Not I have a problem how do the spring the small top hat looking part go back in the filter on top of the valve? thanks so much for your help

If you mean the parts under the large fuel inlet fitting, the long part of the "hat" goes into the lower part of the heavy spring, the short "hat" step goes down into the pressure regulator sleeve. DO NOT put the "hat" in upside down, as the injection pump may be seized from excessive pressure.

so the hat part goes on the bottom of the spring away from the inlet opening not on top if the spring?
