Hardware Questions

For my '66 Ford 3000, I need to find two items:

- Replacement axle bolts (Does anyone have the specs on these? I can't find length/size/TPI in my manual.)
- Check chain clevis (Having a hard time finding genuine Ford - I have a couple from Tractor Supply whose posts are of a too-large diameter.)

Thanks fellers

Here's the one I'm looking for, I think (circled):

May not be much help, but here's the clevis - well, most of it anyways. Been keeping my keys company in my front pocket for weeks:

Bolt is #38 on CNH Drawing, still sold by them.
Part # 280119 its a 5/8 - 11 G5 by 3 1/2" Bolt price: $1.50

Of course the washer and nut are sold seperately.
Washer # 5122064 $1.50
Nut # 280374 $1.15

Don't look like anything special you couldn't get at any hardware store by the drawing.

Clevis is listed as #27 on Hydraulic Drawing.
Clevis C5NNA945C $29
Cap 87299501 $2.45
Pin 380456S36 $8.95

Double check to make sure I'm looking at what you want, but its listed on the CNH Diagram under 3cyl 3000.

Thanks a lot! Good info on the bolt / washer / nut; you're right, I can buy this'n anywhere. Wonder what grade it calls for.

I don't have any CNH information, just the original Ford manual. Any idea where I can find the references you're looking at?

Tip for using the catalog, if you hit the green button on the right side of the page and expand it to full screen you can scroll sideways to read the full part descriptions.

That sure is a good-looking resource, I guess I'll wade in and see if I can't buy these items first. Might be a good step toward buying something more expen$ive from them.

Any gotchas I should watch out for with CNH? I'm curious to see whether these minor parts will be model and type-specific (and painted) or if they'll be modernized.

I sure do appreciate the help from you all.

messicks.com is an authorized New Holland dealership, and they have the same parts catalog on their web site and you can order on-line and they will ship. If you try to order directly from the New Holland site it will just ask you to pick a dealer and then it will send the info to your local dealer and the dealer will contact you to actually place and pick up the order, so if you don't have a dealer close enough then messicks is generally a good way to go.

Careful on your expensive items also, use the catalog to get the parts numbers you need and then check around on some of the other Tractor Parts Websites, sometimes you can cut the cost in half, of course its not a genuine CNH part, but depending on what it is, that might not matter. And whether you are just doing maintenance or a full blown restoration.

+1 on Messicks. I've ordered from them many times. If it is in stock, they ship same day and I usually get the next day. If it comes from warehouse, they usually ship in a day or two. They've even found some obsolete parts for me. It's much better than the 60 mile drive to my nearest CHN dealer.
