Ford Sherman can you identify?

We got some misc stuff from a Ford dealer auction.
There is part of what appears to be a Sherman transmission here but it has an extra idler gear and shaft in it. The main case is cast# 10A1001 and the adapter plate that bolt to the tractor is cast# 10A1003. I believe these are different than regular step up parts. Was this a reverser transmission? Any ideas?

John Smith will likely come along here shortly and offer some insight, but until he does, here's some stuff from his web site:

Hope that helps.
