Gasket Material Thickness

I have my 841 Ford split at the clutch. In the process of sealing leaks, etc. I know the gasket between the back of the Sherman and the front transmission housing (the Sherman mounting bracket, I think is what it's called) is 1/64th material. I need to make two additional gaskets:

-The gasket in the Sherman where the input shaft enters the housing.

-The gasket for the hydraulic pump drive gear cover.

Are these two gaskets of the same 1/64th thickness?

Also, any tips for getting the hydraulic pump drive gear cover off? Someone in this tractor's past has apparently had that cover off and "sealed" it with a gob of that "blue stuff" (not sure of the official name). Now it's leaking, but the "blue stuff" is I think keeping me from easily popping that cover off.

Thanks in advance!

The "gasket" for the hydraulic pump serves to set the backlash between the drive and driven gears and is made of shim paper.

Still available from CNH.

Of course if your tractor has no hydraulic pump and you simply need to seal the cover plate, you can make from whatever thickness paper you desire.

it is my understanding that if you were to use gasket material other than that specified, that you can't just stick your caliper on it and measure the thickness. It needs to be the compressed thickness.

I just ordered it (should be here by Tuesday). Do you just clean out the "hole" and install it? Or is there a procedure for setting the "backlash"? By "backlash" do you mean side-to-side play on the driven gear?

I just realized I may not have been clear: This is NOT the gasket between the engine block and the hydraulic pump. I'm talking about the gasket behind the drive gear cover, just to the front of the flywheel. It's a round cover, about 4 or 5 inches in diameter. It "covers" the side of the hydraulic pump drive gear.
