I know the real answer is "it is worth whatever you can sell it for", but...we are preparing to move and I will no longer need my 1958 Ford 641 (Serial 28479). I live in central Texas. The rear tires were purchased new (mounted on new hoops) just 2 or 3 years ago. Front tires are about 4 years old (replaced rims about 2 years ago - they are tubeless at the time...found it much easier to seal for thorns that way). It is a 12V "stealth" conversion (12 volt generator). It has working headlights. The engine starts easily and runs well (does smoke some, I've been asking it to stop but it says it is hard to give up). Hydraulic lift works pretty good - does 'hiccup' a little but lifts strong. I have an Big Bee Agri 5 rotary cutter that'll go with it.
Looking at craigslist there seem to be a lot of people that have no idea what they are really selling - calling things "golden Jubilee" when it clearly isn't and such. Makes it hard to really know what to ask. However...some appear to be asking around $3,500 for 640s that are in good shape. Mine is not a "trailer queen" - it does work and while it is painted it isn't all glossy and shiny.
I do not know the number of hours on the engine. The proofmeter was broken when I purchased it for $1,800 6 or so years ago (it has a working one now). Starter was recently rebuilt. Generator was examined by the same shop that rebuilt the starter and was found to be in good shape. Has a new regulator (purchased from NAPA). Spin-on oil filter (think I still have the original can). Petronix module for electronic ignition.
Any ideas on what I should ask would be appreciated.
