Ford 3000: What's the model number and date?

Hey everybody,

I can only hope that I am able to give back to this forum in
the same way I've had questions answered.

I'm trying to figure out what these serial numbers and date
codes mean. The web sites that show the numbers just don't
seem to go along with what's stamped on my tractor. I've
attached a few pictures so somebody can tell me what I've
actually got.

Thanks! Ken

I think I've answered my own question. All of these numbers are on the LEFT side of the tractor - what I need is on the RIGHT side of the tractor. I'll go back and check the numbers on the right side.

Then, it'll make more sense when I look at these http://www.springfieldbiz.com/oaktree/lhcodes_serial.html kinds of pages.

Thanks!

Ken

Keep in mind the difference between the numbers that are Stamped into your tractor and numbers that are Cast into various parts and pieces.
Some date codes are cast but the numbers that will give you the build date of your tractor are stamped.

Yes, the numbers you want are on the right side of the tractor, just to the rear of the starter. You also need to look for -stamped- numbers. The raised numbers in your pictures are casting numbers. The serial number will start with an A, B, or C. For a 3000, the model number could start with a 3 or C, depending on the year.

If I have it right, the date of casting is Dec 29, 1964. The number 6 may have been the pattern number used, or perhaps the 6th iron melt of the day.

C5NN is Ford's code for a tractor part that was originally designed for the 1965 model year. 4024 is Ford's code for a rear end center section/hydraulic compartment. 7006 is Ford's code for a transmission housing. 4K27 is Oct 27 1964. 4K29 is Oct 29 1964.
