grease out and is the john deere corn head grease
that much better

While the double aught (00) grease is better, your 120 grease will work well also. a bit thicker but will stay pretty much there. And as the box is nearly full, gravity and bumps will make sure it packs to the bottom and covers all the needed parts. So.. at this point I would not worry a bit about it. (00) or double aught grease is a bit more fluid is the only difference and will run the to bottom a bit quicker.. but it will also seap out a bit quicker where 120 will stay in place but take a bit longer to pack.. Again driving the tractor will make 120 do it job perfectly unless you drive on very very smooth ground, Gravity will do what the bumps dont do. Parking the tractor in the sun will also speed things up a bit just sitting there. Worm gears will move the grease around and send it to the top where it will fall back down as it builds up. All is good.

JD corn head grease is a nlgi 0 polyurea grease.

The main problem with some 2# greases is they eventually form a cavity around the moving parts..

Since you already have plenty of base grease in there, just top off now and then with thinner grease or gear oil to make a thick stew that will keep it lubed.

Harmlar,
I have had just plain old Red grease in my steering box for almost 30 years now. No problems so far!
At first, I added 20 pumps a year when I did my maintenance. Lately I put in 10 pumps and get a glob of old grease out the top of the tube a few days later. I may reduce my yearly add to only 5 pumps to limit the mess. With that grease out the top, I KNOW that there is grease in every bearing in there top to bottom!
My vote is that you will be fine.
