Ok bought 2 rotor clips ,good thing and like $6 a piece. My dust cover keeps getting stuck in the distributor cap pulling off the rotor and breaking out the center of the dust cover and flinging the new clip out into the snow, put on last clip . Still not starting . I have power to the coil I think the coil or the electronic ignition module. I have no spark I'd left the key on a while back maybe has something to do with it. But was running great and just plain quit. I'm pick up a ohm meter tonite but may not mess with it till Sunday supposed to be better outside. It's in the drive way broke down. It's nasty outside here I-94 is closed a 100 car pile up say closed til Saturday. I just can't figure out why or how the dust cover would be so tight in the cap. Thanks J.R.

Here is a simple test you can do with out a meter. Remove the ignition side wire off the coil. Turn on ignition then touch that wire back to the coil. If you have a spark when you do then pull the center wire out of the distributor cap. Then do that again and touch it on then off then back on a few times. If you then have a spark you know your problem is in the distributor cap. Also easy way to stop the dust cover from sticking to the cap is wipe a little Vaseline on the edge of the dust cover then wipe off wit a rag.

EI? I think ultra dog is the local EI rep, hopefully he can set you
straight.

Left it on? What model ei was it, the old dumb units will burn up
like points if left on and 100% duty cycled.

Russ1 bingo $130 lesson I will get a new petronix but not right away. Can I pull the petronix out and just put a set of points and condenser ,or since I have everything switched to 12 volt do I have to have a different condenser and coil . Thanks J.R.

Condenser does not care if it is 6 or 12 volts so no need to replace that. If the coil is a 12 volt coil you do not need to do any thing with it. Point gap is 0.025
