960 ford what oil goes in transmission, rear end? Is there a filter? My 3pt takes a while before it lifts what would cause this? Was no water in it. .

In your area I would use a UTF type fluids in all 3 compartments due to the cold weather you have. Something that meets the Ford 134D spec

No filer in any of the 3 compartments. 3 fill plugs and 3 drains. Transmission, hyds and rear end

Contamination of the hydraulic oil with 90 weight from the transmission and/or differential can cause slow hydraulics. That's why most folks use universal hydraulic oil (aka "134") in all three reservoirs.

Note that your row crop has three other reservoirs: The two final drives and the steering pedestal. Use 90 weight gear oil in all three. Your hydraulic reservoir dipstick does double-duty as the dipstick for the pedestal; the filler plug is under the front grill. If you remove the drain plug from the pedestal, chances are water will run out. You may need to heat up the pedestal drain plug with an acetylene torch to get it out.

"Your hydraulic reservoir dipstick does double-duty as the

Help me out with this one Mark, are you saying take the dipstick
and insert it through the filler plug to check the level in the pedestal?

Yes, the proper hydraulic dipstick for a row crop has markings on both sides, one set of markings on one side for the hydraulics and another set of markings on the other side for the front pedestal.

Exactly. You've probably noticed that the dipstick is marked differently on its two sides. Use the "Pedestal" markings to check the oil level in the steering pedestal. (Just like Sean said.)

Royse, here's mine off the 4000 RC.

Thanks Tom. I'll have to check mine. Never noticed it.
I have a gazillion manuals around here, but not one owner's
manual for a row crop.

Transmission, hydraulic, rear end housing all should take universal trans hydraulic fluid as well as drop axles? 90 in front pedestal? I'm not using this tractor much,

What is itf oil? So the plug by shifter use universal trans hydraulic, plug in front of seat also, the plug behind seat also or 80w90?

That should have been UTF. You can use UTF in all of them or the heavy stuff in the rear end
