Ford 5200 narrow front tractor

I was going through some photos I took
over the summer and came across photos of
this Ford 5200 I came across in Indiana.

That tractor has very low hours. I want to say about 1500 or so. It was on tractorhause for over a year for sale. I can't remember the price, but it wasn't exactly cheap. Looked to be a good tractor. Looks like it has a new owner. Looks like the new owner widened the wheels out quite a bit. It's hard to find original paint row crop fords of the 1970's.

I would have bought it, but the timing was wrong. When the timing was right, tractor was gone! Valuable lesson in tractor buying. The time to buy is the time you see it.

You're right it was listed on tractor
house for a long time. It was eventually
auctioned off because it never sold. I'm
not sure what it ended up going for.

note the cornpicker brackets on the rear axles... I bet it only saw the field for picking for the bulk of it's life.

"cornpicker brackets on the rear axle" Wandering if they are not stabilizer brackets. We own two 5200's, both wide front ends. Never had a picker on either one. Picker went on the 960.

Far more 5200''s than 4200's around here. . But narrow fronts on any blue tractor are 'rare' here. My cousin has a wide front twin to this one.

Tack & Trade in Delta, CO had a 5200 for sale back in August. I don't specifically recall which front axle but it must have been the narrow front for it to catch my eye as I drove past on Hwy 50.

Mine is wide front. Never saw a narrow front, neat.

I'd call the rear axle brackets stabilizer bar holders for 3pt, but could be wrong. That stack of weights on front tells me it did some work, round bale moving or plowing or something.

The ones I've seen have white painted rear wheel centers, looks odd to me with the blue centers, wondered if it was repainted? The blue looks a tad off, but could just be the photo. Sheet metal is a tad rough.

When I was looking for one, local small time dealer had one for $10,000, but it had just sold when I checked on it. I was kinda disappointed. Never see then around here.

As luck would have it one was at an auction 60 miles away and two months later, bought it for $5400. As I started it a grand kid came up and said take care of grandpas tractor......

Well, it's become my favorite, use it a lot on my farm, and been taking care of it.

Nice tractor.

i have a pair of 5200s, a 1968 nf and a 1971 wf both really nice tractors, but i find the narrow front has a rough ride, does a lot of bouncing in the front end, i perfer the wf as it rides much smoother, other wise a pair of bullet proof tractors.

I've seen both blue and white (grey) rear centers. Which is "correct" seems to depend on both model and year. My cousin's 5200 has blue centers, but has been repainted, so whoknows if it correct. My 5200 also had blue centers, and original paint.
