ford 4000 pulling pto shaft

 1965 ford major 4000 : pulling pto shaft: do you just pull bolts on rear and shaft pulls out or is there other things to consider ( dont have my manual yet ,but would like to get to work , appreciate any help

Yes, it will come right out, but it won't go right back in because a thrust washer drops down near the front. A tapered broomstick with some grease on it can be used to help get the thrust washer back in place.

Listen to Bern. He knows these tractors.
I just wanted to add a caution about your forum name.
There are lots of spammers and scammers that have software that sift through forums like this searching for email addresses. I have noticed an increase in spam at my own yahoo email after I posted it out in the open here.
If you plan to use this forum on a regular basis - and I hope you do - I would drop the email and use something like jdscoop. You have only 7 posts now. When you have several hundred or thousand posts you will be loathe to change your identifing handle.
Just a thought.
