Ford Balmar Backhoe

Bought this a week or so ago. It will try to start, but floods so
bad that the engine dies. I tried pecking on the carb a little to
loosen the float in case it was stuck but no luck on that. Will a
carb off of an 801 fit it? I need to load it and get it home and
have access to an 801 carb.

They were based on the 4 cylinder 4000, so a carb from an 801 will work. Same 172 c.i. engine.

Don't be too sure that it is flooding until you see that the plugs are wet. Gas running out of the throat of an updraft carb is normal if it doesn't fire up quickly.
