The numbers you posted don't seem to be correct/complete:

first row #5h170 - This one looks to be the production code, also called the Unit Number, and would indicate that it was made on the 17th day of August in some year that ended in a 5, either 1965 or 1975. If the sides of the hood are the earlier style with the louvers then it would be 1965, and if it has the later style smooth hood sides then it would be 1975.

#2-125 This does not look like a model number, or even part of a model number for a 4000 ag chassis tractor. It might be part of a 4110 Low Center of Gravity (LCG) model number. If it is then it would be 41125E if it was made in 1965 or D1125E if it was made in 1975. The reason I am assuming the E at the end is that the 5 would indicate that it has the dual speed 540/1000 rpm PTO with ground speed, which was only available on the S-O-S transmission with the "E" transmission code. If I am correct (lots of guesses here) then it would be a 4110 LCG model with a diesel engine, S-O-S transmission and dual speed 540/1000 rpm PTO with ground speed.

#3-B* z or 2 12630* - B212630 would be a Basildon UK serial number, but the numbers for the B and C serial numbers are not documented well, so it won't help us to determine a year, except that it seems too high to be a 1965 and too low to be a 1975, but since they weren't documented well it really could be either I guess. Also, are you sure that the first asterisk is after the B? Usually the asterisks are before and after the full serial number, including the leading letter.

Post some pictures of the tractor from the front, rear and sides and we would probably be able to help some more with identifying it.

There were a few changes over the 10 year production run. Here are the changes that I can think of off the top of my head:

April 1, 1968 - Changed sheet metal and grill style, also change series designator in model number from a number to a letter (4 to D). Also changed the gasoline engine from 192 ci to 201 ci (diesel was always 201).

October 1, 1969 - Changed from the earlier power steering pump with the separate reservoir to the later one with the reservoir integrated into the pump body.

November 1, 1969 - Changed from cartridge style oil filter to spin-on style.

October 1, 1970 - (4000 ag chassis only) Switched from the external power steering cylinder to the system with the internal cylinder in the steering column.

I think i have found out the year 1965,it is a ford major 4000 ,from those fenders that bolt to the steps,6 lug rear wheels ,your help with the #5h170 was the yr and month .thank you for all the help ,its great to have experienced people like you to talk to thanks again for all your help and patience.
