Help to identify my tractor - Ford Industrial Loader 335

pabble

New User
Hi...I just got a Ford Industrial 335 loader tractor and would appreciate any help in learning it's year, loader model and anything else that the numbers might reveal. the seller didn't have any helpful info because it came from an estate sale a few years ago. Also, I want to mount a small backhoe (case D100) and would like suggestions or references on the best way to make an attachment to the loader frame. thanks....

sorry, forgot to include the numbers I was able to read from the tractor and loader...here's what I think they are:

Tractor
Left side below seat
03NN4024 AD and a big letter “4”
first could be D?

Right side below shift levers
02NN 7006 A

small and hard to read…..6701175

Loader
Left side
280348 BX
H2 7700718

Right side
770072 H3

335 is probably a loader model, not a tractor model (as far as I know, anyway, and it's not one of the ones I know well, so I could be wrong on that.) edit - nope, see, I don't know much when I get out of my narrow range of knowledge:

http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ford&th=492164

The numbers you want are on the flat spot above the starter, and will be punched in, not raised casting numbers (which I think is most of what you have posted) - they face the sky, if that helps you figure out where to look (OK, they face the bottom of fuel tank, more like - if it wasn't there they would face the sky.)

There may or may not also be a whole bunch of numbers on a foil sticker inside the hood, which should match the numbers elsewhere on the tractor if parts have not been changed.

Then again, if too far off the era I'm familiar with ('65-74) the numbers could be elsewhere. But in any case a raised up number is a casting number that's on all castings of that sort, while serial & model numbers and date codes will all be stamped so they can be unique to the tractor.

I think the 335 was the 76 and newer replacement for the 3400. Should be single reduction rear end and heavy non adjustable front axle.
Look under the right side hood for a foil sticker and post the numbers you find there.
Someone like Sean PA can ID it for you.

Those numbers that you posted appear to mstly be casting codes for individual components of the tractor.

Ford made two different tractors that they called the 335. The first one was classified as a "Utility" tractor and was made from 1975-1978. The second one was made from 1983-1984 and was classified as a "Highway Utility" tractor. Either model could have a Ford loader attached to it.

The numbers that would identify the model could be in two different locations. The easiest, if it is still there, is on a foil sticker on the underside of the right hood panel, above the battery. If that foil sticker is still there and legible, post all of the numbers that you find there and we will be able to tell you exactly what model it is, and which transmission and PTO options it had when it left the factory, and we can even tell you the exact day that it left the assembly line. If the foil sticker is no longer there, or if it is no longer legible, the three most important numbers should be stamped into a flat spot on the transmission bell housing,. The flat spot is on the right side of the tractor, just rearward from the starter, and it is above the two large bolt holes and faces up. Thwe numbers will be stamped into the metal, not raised up like the casting codes that you already posted.

Also, somewhere on the loader frame there should be a small metal plate with some numbers stamped into the plate, and they should be in the format of I9-xxx where the xxx part of the number will help us determine the exact model of the loader as well.

thanks for the quick and very helpful replies. The foil sticker gives this information (hard to tell "C" from "0" in some cases):

Tractor Number: 0507079
Model: C123C
Unit: 6E25B
Engine: 5704C
Transmission: 6C10C
Rear Axle: 6D27B
Hyd Pump: 6D14B
Hyd Lift: 6D10B

The stamping into the engine is harder to decipher but I think this is close:

CU123C
6E25B
C5070797*

hope this helps.....thanks.

CU123C is the model number:
CU1 at the beginning is the designator for the earlier 335 "Utility" model made from 1975-1978. Ultradog is correct that it replaced the earlier 3400 Utility model.
The 2 in the fourth position means that it has a gasoline engine.
The 4 in the fifth position means that it has live PTO.
The C in the last position means that it has the 8 speed transmission.

C5070797 is the serial number, which is a 1976 serial number

6E25B is the Unit Numbe, or production code. It says that the tractor rolled off the assembly line on May 25, 1976 during the day shift.

The other numbers are the production codes for the assemblies of the individual components:
Engine: 5704C - Not sure on this one, 4th day of some month in 1975. The second character is supposed to be a letter, not a number, to designate the month.
Transmission: 6C10C - March 10, 1976 afternoon shift
Rear Axle: 6D27B - APril 27, 1976 day shift
Hyd Pump: 6D14B - April 14, 1976 day shift
Hyd Lift: 6D10B - April 10 1976 day shift

The loader is most likely a model 730 loader, as that is the only loader model I can find that had a mounting kit for the 335.

I couldn't ask for a more complete and prompt
response! wow...thanks very much - gets me started
in the right direction and is very much appreciated.
I realize now that I should ask the unrelated
question about mounting the backhoe in another part
of the forum so will do that now. Again - thanks so
much for your help.

I think could be gotten as a tractor with no loader as a lot different units were avaible as tractor only. Loader and backhoe were ordered together with unit and shipped assembled.
