I'm just curious if the tractor being a gold demo adds any value to it? The tractor will need repainted but it runs and drives good and seems to shift ok what would be a fair price to ask for the tractor?

Gold demo does not add much. They don't seem to be that rare and are not verifyable. You can find out only if it could be by serial number. Value from information given $1800-$4500. what are tires like? Is the SOS the original over-running or the second Gen?

Some collectors will pay a bit more for a so-called gold demonstrator but they are not worth more to me than a similar non demo model in like condition.

There where only 2500/3000 made so it does add a little value. But for a collector original condition and all numbers within the gold demo's three month period including recall tracking number.
They had an exchange program in the mid 60's where you could exchange your old ORC trans for a newer DDC trans for about 600 bucks. Even though the DDC is a better trans it might hurt the value to a collector.
You should be able to see gold paint if top coat is scrapped off all over the tractor. Take a lot of photos before repainting. In some cases it may be better to leave as is in original condition. This is not the case with my Gold demo which was top coated with blue paint.
I would put a value of $1500/$4000 depending on condition of the tractor and originality.
