2X Ford 2000

If I had a thousand dollars to spend, which Ford
2000 should I buy?

The one that ran great when it was parked or the
one that was parked next to a cliff...

If the LCG were close to me I'd be loading it up.
I don't think I'd touch the other one unless they gave it to me!

I agree with you Royse. If I were not 3000
miles away, I would at least go take a look.

It can be difficult to tell with pictures, but
the LCG appears to be in good shape,
particularly if that is the original paint.

If there is nothing seriously wrong, it is
possible someone could be mowing in style for
less than the price I paid for my Craftsman
mower ($1200).

Tractor ($750) + seat ($100) + carburetor kit
($50) + tune-up kit ($40) + good price on
finishing mower ($250).

I will need to learn more about the advantages
and disadvantages of Select-O-Speed. It seems
to scare most people away from these tractors.

The LCG makes a great mowing tractor but its usefulness for much else is limited.

This one appears to be in relatively good shape and it will have the DDC S-O-S.

For $1,000, I would load it up immediately absent some detectable serious issue(s).

The PS system alone is worth nearly $1,000 if operational.

"The PS system alone is worth nearly $1,000 if operational."

That and what appears to be 4 pretty good turf tires.

There's also a set of rather difficult to find dual wheel adapters and adapter nuts included.

I agree on the LCG. It even has a foot throttle to leave your hand free for shifting that SOS. Those fenders might look good on one of my row crops. I would be looking to bundle with that green truck.

I don't think I would pay more than scrap price for that blue tractor. There is just not enough on it to make it worth your while to part out.
The LCG tractor would be fun to own. Hook a mower on it and dedicate it to that.

Your first picture looks like a 1953 Ford Jubilee celebrating the years Ford made tractors. The 4 cyl 2000s were in the '60's like mine is a '63. The one in the second picture came out in '65 as I recall as I have a '65 3000 3 cyl. as did the 2000 of that series.

I certainly would pass on the second one. I bought a $1000 Ford 4000 4 cyl once that wasn't running. Big mistake.

Soundguy can put you onto the exact year models.

Select o speed is like any other fancy tractor transmission, like the case hydra shift and any others. They all work good if treated right/used properly, and maintained as they should be.
if a guy starts driving it like a race car, and abusing it thats when problems usually start.
The biggest issue with them is if you happen to own it when it goes wrong, from the last guys abuse. on the later 0000 series they are expensive to fix, if you can get parts and find the guy to do it. That knows how. Don't know anything about these ones and reliability/ parts. But others here will.
