approximate weight of 801 hydraulic control system

could someone give me the approximate weight of the hydraulic control system or cover for a ford 841? I will have to remove the cover by myself. thanks for any assistance given.

100 lbs sounds about right.
The hard part about doing it alone is you have to lift from such an awkward position.
I just did it alone on a 4000 and it went ok.
A cheap come a long from a rafter would make it much easier.

I'll agree with 100 pounds. I can pick a top cover up and move it around. It is heavy, but doable. But to place it accurately on the center housing while bent over is nearly impossible. I use an engine hoist.

Agreed with posters below.

You can R & R it with a hoist but it is easiest with a helper.

Removing it is not a problem its installing it... I pride myself on doing a job by myself because a helper just gets in the way and will fudge up almost every time... I am not the man I use to be....

The last lift cover I installed on a 3000 I had a helper I told him to NOT LIFT THE LIFT ARMS while we installed it... Well HE DID I had to remove it and put the dog bone back in the lift cyl. ...

If you can get hold of some type of lift (engine crane would be nice) Life will be good...

thanks for the information. I have a come-a-long and a chain hoist but no place to attach in my shop. did find an engine hoist at a rental place and will most likely use it. thanks again for the information.

ditto what the others said.

it can be done alone, but easier with a helper, or engine crane.

But as UD pointed out. a come along on a rafter will do it. I pulled the lift cover on a 600 with a cheap 12v winch and battery out in a shop lean too I put a 2x4 in the ceiling across the rafters to get the attach point right where I wanted. a come along would have been fine too.

As the other said. it's awkward. if you can lift 100# you can do it.

I pulled the cover on a 900 a while back, outside with no help. because it sets higher it was a booger of a job to get it up and out and layed over onto a tire

remove the fenders first.. do yourself a favor.
