OT two cycle oil question

I have a couple of gallons of Quick Silver two cycle oil left after I switched to 4 cycle outboard Mercury. Can I mix this safely with gas for my Chainsaws and blowers etc?; I know there are oil experts here and I am not good at reading the fine print. I dont know if Marine oil is good enough although its more expensive.

Marine two stroke oils are blended for water cooled emgines.Everything I have read says not to use any oil not blended for aircooled 2stroke
apps. The money you save by using what you have may be repayed with a blown up saw.I'd use the oil for anything but a saw I depended on.

I've always used Valvoline 2-cycle by the quart. Last few years I can only find quarts in the TWC which is for outboards so I've been using that in chainsaws and Stihl backpack blower. No problems and the blower is going on 20 years.

If it has a TCW rating (e.g. TCW-3) it should not be used in air-cooled power equipment. Get some oil with a JASO FC or FD rating. The ISO-L-EGC and EGD ratings are equivalent to FC/FD.

hileI believe it wise to follow mfgr's recommendations, I have a never overhauled, very used/abused 1950s vintage Homelite that proves that it is not necessary. Dad had this saw before me and cut thru entire houses, roofing, nails, etc. as a house mover, not to mention many trees and firewood..NOW, I'm here to tell you that the same automotive motor oil that went into his trucks is what was mixed with the gas for this saw! Since it called for 3/4 pint to the gallon (10:1), we might conclude that with so much oil, that even Crisco would do the job! Whatever, it worked and is still my most powerful saw, and the heaviest sucker, too!! No plastic in this one.

I can't say if you can use it or not but I do understand you being loathe to just toss the oil.
You could add some to your tractors' fuel tanks and use it up that way. Would likely be good in an old diesel that was built for more lubricious fuel than they sell now days and couldn't hurt in a gasser either.
Just a thought...
