I need less than a gallon of chn134 hyd oil. My chn
dealer is 40 miles away. Is there something besides
134 that I can add? The cheap stuff gets too thick
in weather. I do have a Case-IH dealer in town.
They want $20/gallon or $80 for 5 gallons for their
oil. Not sure how well that would work.

So is there something I can use instead of
traveling 80 miles?

CaseIH Nexplore or HyTran Ultraction will work very well. Nexplore IS 134 with a CIH label. The Ultraction products replace 134 and HyTran Ultra.

Walmart and TSC both sell a UTF that meets Ford 134D specs and sells for a whole lot less than $20/gal. I use it in my tractors and I've never had a problem with it thickening in cold weather.

I use the TSC Traveller brand too. $40 for 5 gallons. Walmart's SuperTech is actually more than TSC here in MI.

I used TSC Traveller brand in tractor all last
year. Sub zero temps hyd was very slow until it
warmed up. I have some 134, but not enough to fill
sump. I used TSC Traveller in hyd of my IH C. It
made my pump talk when it got cold. So on a Sunday,
I went to Rural King and bought their brand for
Farmalls, it worked better. I may use the rest of
that bottle to top off Jubelee's hyd and see what
happens. I may be driving 80 miles if it doesn't
work.

while i don't buy oil to mix, if i needed a gallon of oil to top off a sump, i wouldn't be the least bit fazed to dump in a gallon of generic utf into a larger sump with real 134. even if the gallon i dumped in was cheap and thick, if there was say. already 3-4+ gallons of real 134 in there.. I think you'd be fine.

Soundguy,
I'll mix the oils and see what happens. It can't be any worse than using what I used last winter, the cheapie stuff.
Post back if it doesn't work out.
I may be headed to Leesburg, Fl after thanksgiving. Helping cousin Eddie drive his 40 ft motor home to Fl.

you haven't seen me drive a 40 ft diesel pusher. It measures 8 ft outside wheel to outside. 9'10" outside mirror to mirror. That's not a lot of room on each side of the white lines. Just don't ride my blind spot.

I had a bottle of rural king brand oil for my IHC hyd. It's a thinner oil than the TSC Traveller oil I used last winter. Used tractor today, seems ok, temp was 30. I'll wait and see how it works if we have sub zero temps. Thanks to all.
