bought a 1920

Just purchased a Ford 1920 to use on my 3 1/2 acres to move things around and mostly for snow removal. I have a couple questions.

The bucket dumps very slow. Why might that be? I wonder if changing the hydraulic filter would help.

I put a small dent in it by one of the head lights. Is the paint the same as the ford engine blue or some other code?

It is a neat little tractor however the bucket is to small. Do they make larger buckets for these tractors?

About the tractor it is a 1989 in pristine condition with 930 hours. An elderly couple bought it new and claim they only mowed with it and it was always garaged. No fluid leaks and it is very clean. It is a 4 wheel drive and came with bucket, a blade, a scraper box, disc, and 6' finish mower. I have no use for the disc if anyone is interested. I am glad it had the blade because with this small bucket it doesn't work well for snow removal. The position of the bucket also isn't ideal because when you put it down and slightly tilt it it immediately starts to lift the front axel and you loose steering. I bought it to replace my Case 430 that lost it's power steering and the dealer has had no luck fixing it. They have had it since September. The old 430 with it's 6' bucket and loaded tires would move anything. Anyway I would like to know what others have to say about the 1920.

If it lifts fast but dumps slow it may have a restrictor orifice installed to slow that circuit down.

1920... Good tractor.

Everything I've read on the 1920 is positive.
I have never owned one.
Might be hard to find parts for in the near future.
Does yours have a separate filter for the dump?
Are all of the hydraulics slow, or just the dump?

The bucket, if standard equipment is the right size.
Anything larger would over stress your front axle.
A bucket is not the way to move snow anyway. Very slow.
I use mine only when there are drifts that have to be moved.

A blade is a much faster option, but obviously piles the snow.
Snowblower moves the snow farther and spreads it out.
You would want some type of cab or heat houser to keep
the blowing snow from turning you into a snowman!

Probably the same dealer for support of your 1920.
Any others close?

Check the screw down on the diverter block on the right side setting in the seat.Turn it all the way to the left. The circuit might not be open all the way.BTDT.

You should be able to find just any old lightweight bucket for snow removal, and have a local fabricator modify the back of it to match up to the mounts on your 1920. You could probably just take the bucket off the 430 to him and most likely he could set it up to fit both tractors.

I will be looking at options because this bucket is not just short in length but in depth as well.

Ok that is probably it because I slowed it down to lift the blade slow. I thought that was only for the three point hitch.

Well I am used to the 430 with a bucket that will just push anything out of the way. I agree after using the blade that it makes quick work of it. I do get a lot of drifting though. I hope parts are around because I plan to have this little tractor for a long time. In it's condition I expect it to give me a lot of trouble free use over the years though, plus I will not be putting it to work every day either. Yes I would like a cab because I am in the open and the wind and wind chill is murder sometime. But considering what I paid for it the cost of a cab isn't in the near future.

I will look at the possibility on the orifice. I never even heard of the 1920 until this one was advertised but in my research I haven't heard anything bad. However I haven't heard of most tractor models since I don't farm and don't do much with tractors. I will say having a tractor since I moved to the country in 1995 I have come to appreciate them. I have done things with my 430 over the years I couldn't have done without a tractor. I am not sure rather the dog or the tractor is man's best friend.

About 14 us ago I had a 1920, owned it for 3 us, traded it in on a larger 7610S nh. Was a grew tractor, wish I still had it.
