801 POWER STEERING PROBLEM

Hey guys, hoping someone can share some knowledge on my 801 power steering problem. I have a new pump, two new cylinders, and have had the control valve off several times.Replaced all three springs- one was broken, cleaned everything. I have a little power steering to the right, but nothing at all to the left, steers fine with the weight off the front wheels.I feel that it must be a problem with the valve, but everything looks ok to me,any ideas greatly appreciated, Thanks,BDB

My first thought was that you had a broken spring, but you say you replaced the three springs. Is it possible that you got one of the plunger/spring assemblies in the wrong hole?

Something to try. Disconnect both cylinders at the front. Start the tractor and steer right and left. Do the cylinders move in the correct direction? If not reverse the hoses on that side and try again.

Thanks guys for your responses,I will hopefully get a chance to check the placement of the "special plungers" tomorrow. There is no telling how many different people have "worked" on this old tractor in the past. I have only had it a couple months, and the steering was this way when I got it.For what it's worth,I have put the plungers and springs back in the valve body each time just the way the I&T manual shows them. Fig. FO 28 on page 18 shows the "special plungers " at about the 9 o'clock position,is this not correct? Also I wondered if someone in the past could have put on the wrong control valve assembly? Thanks again to all of you for any input!BDB
