Ford 3000 diesel 3 cyl air filter air blowback

When engine is running there is a slight air blowback from the air filter cap on the hood. it is clean air no exhaust smell or sound.

If it is a burnt valve i'd expext exhaust smell or sound. Is it possible that the camshaft timing is off and valves are not fully closed at TDC ?

I recently adjusted the valve lash to specs and carefuly inspected the valve train no bent pushrod or apparent defect.

Engine starts and runs perfectly...no smoke...no miss.

It may be normal for these engines I really do'nt know ?

Thanks in advance

It may be just some turbulence around the filter as they do expel dirt from an ejector in the bottom of the filter housing. That said... if you notice an audible sput sput... coming from the air filter I would go back and run the valves again POST HASTE... before it burns a valve. I think you probably have one set a little too tight. If the rockers are getting worn that is very easy to do. I sometimes use a dial indicator over the valve head and measure the actual travel of the rocker free hand without applying any pressure to it. I set the intake to .015" and the exhaust to .018"
