Hydraulic Question

I finally got my 941 back together (almost) and running. I drove it around a bit to get it warm then went to the field for a bit of plowing to get it up to operating temps. Everything worked as expected. On the way back to the house I noticed the lift was dropping just a little then recovering. I was thinking I needed to bleed the hyd system but I was planning on replacing the fluid anyway. This morning I started it up and the lift picked up and held as it should. I cycled the lift down and back up but it wouldn’t come back up (engine at 1400 rpm). I brought the engine back to idle and the lift slowly came back up. I drained the fluid and found it to be contaminated with water and as it drained out it appeared there was large globs coming out of the sump. I washed about a qt of mineral spirits thru to try and clean out any debris left in the bottom. Anything else I need to do before refilling the fluid?

Thanks,

Scott

Me? I'd put 1.5-2 gallon of diesel in there, 2-3 qts ATF, and 2 pints 90% rubbing alcohol in, then give it a few victory laps around the yard to splash around, then drain. Should get most of the liquid and emulsified oil/water out.

Got it flushed out today as recommended. The lift was working OK but still a little slow and didn't lift very high. There was a lot of air in the system (which could be normal after a fluid change). I'll put in some UTF, bleed the system and see what happens.

Got the new fluid in today, bled the system and cycled the lift a few times. It does move a bit faster and higher but I don't think its lifting all the way up. It still drops a bit then picks back up (pulsing?) and engine rpm only speeds up the return. Is there an adjustment for the lift height? It works well enough for what I need it to do but I'll eventually have to rebuild the lift.

Thanks,

Scott

Edit: Just read thru several posts on 3pt issues. I'm thinking a rebuild is called for.
