could someone help me with where can I get part for a 4000 4x4 ,also how can I tell the exact model & year of this tractor

There were two different Ford 4000 tractors. The earlier one had a 4 cylinder engine and was made from 1961-1964, and the later one had a 3 cylinder engine and was made from 1965-1975. Neither of them were avilable from the factory with 4 wheel drive, but there were aftermarket conversions available. The most common one was made by Elenco. Tony Jacobs, who is a member here, owns the Elenco brand.

Whether it is a 3 or 4 cylinder 4000, you can find the model identifier on a flat spot just toward the rear of the tractor from the starter (on the left side on a 4 cylinder tractor and on the right side on a 3 cylinder model). On the transmission bell housing just aft of the starter there are 2 larce bolt holes and a flat spot just above those bolt holes that faces up toward the sky. The numbers are stamped into that flat spot. Post the numbers that you find there and we can tell you what it was when it left the factory.

I own a 1968 3 cylinder with 4x4.

First need to know whether 3 or 4 cylinder as Sean said.

If 3 cylinder, I will respond.
