Diesel fuel pump

I have a 901 Ford powermaster diesel. Diesel goes to the pump but not trough it. Local tractor repair man came out and said pump needs rebuilt. He can't do it for medical issues. Is this something we could do ourselves? Where would we get the repair kit? And instructions on how to do it. Thanks

What is the history of the tractor.. has it been parked and not run for years, or did this happen overnight?

Perhaps Deiseltech will chime in here. But you might check
the fuel shut off linkage they can stick In the off position.
Fairly simple fix most times. Rebuilds are expensive and
should be done professionally.

When did it last run? If it's been awhile several internal parts may be stuck, metering valve, delivery valve, and/or plungers. Any water in fuel or old stale fuel can cause it. A complete teardown and reseal will usually repair them, just repaired a JD 4020 with all above parts stuck from setting with biodiesel in the tank.
