Ford 4000 3point lift problem

The 3 point lift stopped working (wont lift at all) on our ford 4000 tractor. We took out the hydraulic lift cylinder and replaced the torn big o-ring inside the cylinder as well as all the small o-rings on the cover, put it back together and it still doesn't work. If anyone might have any suggestions it'd be greatly appreciated by this tractor hydraulic system first timer. Anthony

More like your hydraulic is leaking from the wheel cylinder if so you can get some hydraulic stop leak from blue devil and fix that.

Welcome to the Ford Board.
Until we get to know you (or at least get to know your tractor) Always mention whether you have a 1962-64 four cylinder 4000 or a 1965-75 three cylinder 4000.
If it is a 4 cylinter try bleeding your pump.

What wheel cylinder?

okay,, is it a su or low center of gravity model or the ag model..

as the hydraulic pump could be in different locations...

one model has the hydraulic pump by your right foot.. the other on the left side mounted at the rear of the engine. that one will have tubes running across the transmission and back down to the right rear of the tractor.. That one had a bleed plug on the side of the pump and can have the air bled out of it.
