Front Grease seals on NF

Got all the new parts to put the hubs back together. Didn't notice when removing the old seal which way it was in. I'm about 99% sure that raised lip has to face the pedestal to seal the grease in the hub by riding up against the flat surface on the pedestal. Correct? Doesn't look like it could do anything to hold the grease in if it was facing into the hub.

OEM style seals?

If so, the rubber ring rides against the flat surface of the spindle.

The seal is intended to keep dirt out rather than grease in.
