Ford 641 hydraulic lift

If I'm reading my manual right, my 641 uses M4864A, which is about SAE 80 or 90. I think that my hydraulic reservoir is filled with UTF, which would not be the correct weight for this tractor. I'd like to ask a few questions about this.

A. I've noticed that my 3-pt lift moves very quick, and is hard to make fine adjustments. Is this because of the lighter fluid?

B. Will using UTF cause any adverse effects on the tractor?

C. I can't find M4864A anywhere. What would be a suitable replacement for this fluid?

Use CNH 134D or any hydraulic oil that meete the 134D spec.

Most modern UTF fluids meet this spec.

Ford never specified 80/90W oil for the hydraulic resevoir in your tractor, and such oil is not suitable.

The original spec was an 80 to 90 weight Mineral Oil, which is not the same as 80 to 90 weight gear oil. 80/90 weight Mineral Oil is about the same viscosity as 20/30 weight engine oil, which is also a similar viscosity to the UTF's that meet the current Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification, which is what has superseded the original spec.

I just rebuilt a 3 point on an 861 and used the 303 UTF fluid in it and have been using that in all my fords for years with no problems

Thanks guys. What about the transmission? Does it use the same fluid? It calls for "Mild Extreme Pressure Lubricant SAE 80".

I use the UTF in all the sumps on my 841 and have for decades with no problems

utf oil is suitable for the tranny, hyds and diffy in that tractor. or you could use it only in the hyds and use 80w90 gear oil in the tranny and diffy. your call.

( utf also fine for the power steering if it has it ). on units with drop boxes and bull gears i like gear oil. same for front pedistals and steering boxes, though optionally 00ep grease in a steering box or pedistal would be ok as a substitute if it weeps after rebuild on gear oil.
