Ford 2000 nose cone inside bellhousing

My brother went to start his ford 2000 the other day and it
didn't fire so he hit the key and it was a little too soon and
the engine kicked back and broke the nose cone off the
starter. Now the nose cone is down inside. I have read
on here how others have been able to "fish" them out
without splitting the tractor.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

(quoted from post at 12:18:26 11/04/14) magnet on a coat hanger?

3 jaw grabber tool.

worst case.. pull steering box..

With the steering box off can you see the clutch thickness? Adjust the pressure plate? My clutch only engages at the very top of the petal. It would be good to know for sure what's going on in there before I split the thing.

Thanks.

single clutch and 4 spd? or dual clutch?

in general.. adjusting the freeplay is about all you can do.. and if the clutch media is worn.. you will be splitting it anyway.

It's a single clutch IPTO. I was hoping that I could see the actual clutch plate. Some vehicles have an access plate underneath, with a mirror or camera can you see the clutch disk from under the steering? I haven't seen a pic so I'm having trouble visualizing.

Thanks!

Single clutch and ipto? I dint think so.

A 2000 can be single clutch, 4 6 or 8 spd and non live pto, or dual clutch 6/8 and lpto , or 10spd SOS powershift ( no standard clutch ) and ipto

I want to say Thanks for the responses, Pulling the Steering gear box, Did the trick, got the nose cone out and ready to put it back together.

Thanks
