6610 series II hydraulic/transmission fluid?

Hi - did a search and didn't come up with much specific to a 6610. Still new to fords and trying to get caught up.

What hydraulic/transmission fluid is now spec'd for a 6610 with dual power?

I have the manual that gives the old part numbers but those are now obsolete.

I believe that CNH has combined the IH spec hytran with the new Holland spec fluid. Would that be the best to run or us there something else that would be better to run?

Thanks

Ford NewHolland 134D or any oil meeting THAT spec. Deere Hy-guard, Esso Hydraul 56 and various others meet the spec. I use walmart or Canadian tire TDH most of the time..

most frm and large box stores sell a generic UTF like Rod said. find one that meets the M2c134 SPEC.

There are two types of fluid sold out there... hydraulic fluid and tractor hydraulic fluid... you need the latter..

They go by different names. Some manufacturers call it Universal Tractor Fluid. Others call it Universal Tractor/Trans Hydraulic fluid. Others call it Universal Tractor Hydraulic fluid.

Just make sure that it says ion the label that it meets or exceeds the Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification.

Straight hydraulic fluid won't say that on the label.

There are also some out there that say "Good for most older tractors" on the label but that don't list any manufacturer's specs, and I would steer clear of those as well.

Thanks for all the reply's.

Seems like Ford is a little more forgiving than some other brands I run. If I would have asked this on a different forum I would have been told only use the manufacturers fluid and not generic THF.

The original fluid spec'd by Ford when these old tractors were new have been superseded over the years by newer and newer specs, so any decent modern fluid that meets a number of different manufacturers specs from 10 years ago have the properties that should lead to a long life as long as proper maintenance is observed.

If you were asking about a brand new tractor then many would recommend that you stick with the manufacturer's own brand of fluid, at least during the warranty period.

that's because fords were built tough enoug to still be working 70 years after being built with almost no maintenance. Many other older tractors nearing that age are ready for the parade route and/or retirement home long before then!

They're NOT forgiving if you use an oil that does NOT meet that spec. If it doesn't... the brakes plates will be gone in not too distant order... and they make a bloody big mess when they do. The issue is not generic oil... but the correct spec oil. Some generic oils meet the spec; some don't. If you notice brake chatter then it's not the correct oil.
