Hi all
Sorry, I haven't been around the forum for a while!
Lots happening here!
We have sold our farm and retiring to a lake front cottage beside Lake Huron.
It is going to be a very different lifestyle for me to get used to!
I will try to watch the posts, but may be too busy fishing! LOL!
Regards
Brian

I retired 21/2 years ago at 62. love every minute of it. my tractors keep me busy along with auctions, tractor shows, grandson and whatever I can get into.

good luck and stay busy.

I retired about 20 years ago at 59. Have enjoyed every minute. Now I can play with my tractors, hunt and fish and go to tractor pulls with my son. Best of luck to you and stay healthy.

Thank you for those kind words!
Unlike some, I welcome retirement, I will be 64 shortly, and (thankfully) in fairly good health.
I am looking forward to being a social butterfly. (My wife's description)
There have been many things that I have wanted to do and just could not get them fitted in and manage the farm too.
I will-
Spend more time with family and friends.
Take a lot more hunting trips, fishing trips, and trips to visit my siblings and families. (While we are all still healthy!
I have enjoyed this forum, and I will continue to enjoy it.
The people here go the distance to help those who don't have the vast knowledge that many on this forum have.
I have received help from many of you, and have always been grateful for it!
All the best
Brian

Thank you, Brian. I have appreciated your input on many different topics on this forum. Your advice was always practical and helpful, and I look forward to more in the future. Best of luck in your retirement.

Hope it works out well for you. I got bored. Retired in 02. Still on the farm but just ran out of things to do. I'm pretty bad about having friends as I set pretty high standards for the people I like to be around. That hurt because the older retired set around here considered me to be a "kid" and the folks my age not working were too lazy to work. So my social network was zero. And with the wife still working so she can contribute to her retirement kinda locked down until she can retire. For a guy who spent most of his life outside doing stuff being house bound 3-4 months every winter was very boring. So now I'm farming as a new career field! Think I should have just built a shop and tinkered on old tractors and cars!

Sounds a lot like me. Not part of the coffee shop crowd.....this is
my CS....more diversity. Grin

I worked indoors so now I am an outdoor guy as much as I can
be.

I quit hunting when I moved to the country as I enjoyed watching
things in their environment. Currently have a pet squirrel.

I fished all my life and got burned out on that besides in my later
years I am not as agile as I used to be, my casting wears me out,
and my "necessities" cause inconveniences.

I bought this farm about 40 years ago and didn't have a lot of
time to work it. Now I do. Seems there is always something that
needs to be done around here. In the instances where I have
nothing to do, or the weather is prohibiting such, I either work
cross word puzzles, which improve my mental functioning and
vocabulary or read. My last book was a comparison between
Rommel and Montgomery.....showed their similarities. Made for
good reading.

I rebuilt old tractors for awhile. When I got to 7 I quit as it was
just repetitious. I keep my farm equipment up and have
modified a lot of things to suit my situation and that has been a
lot of fun.

HTH,
Mark
