Loader Pump Hot!

I've been working on putting a wagner loader on my 640 and have had nothing but problems. First the pump wasn't any good so I bought another one. I had problems getting it mounted straight but got that fixed. Now it won't work and the pump gets very hot. The teturn line fitting coming out of the loader frame was alot smaller that where it went into the pump so I reduced it down to fit. Could that be my problem the pump isn't getting enough fluid? Any suggestions would be appreciated I'm about ready to take it back off and forget about it.

think of this as a water line.

sump is the source, it feeds the pump intake, pump output goes to an open center valve bank. valve bank has lines going to cylinders, and a return line going back to tank.

if the return line is significantly smaller than the rest of the intake and pressure line from the pump then you will have some backflow resistance. IE. if you have a 3/4 intake and a 3/8 return.. that will cause backpressure.

now, if the valve bank is closed center, the pump is deadheading against the relief valve.

Now post us some details..
