on my 3600 the big hyd pipe/tube from rear end to pump was leaking because it had been badly beat up from brush etc over the years. i tried straitening and got it slowed to a drip.
out of frustration and need to put this new tractor to work soon, i ordered a new pipe from walts. it came in with plastic caps on the ends for protection in shipping. but when i unwrapped it noticed that on each end about an inch inch and a half back from the ends are tack welded a metal ring. it looks like i could nearly just twist the ring a bit and break them off and slide them off the end.
i didn't touch it yet thinking if i take the rings off may cause leaking where the orings ride. i thought they may have sent me the wrong pipe, but its identical in every other way.
has anyone ever installed a new one? seen these before? my pump is the gear type, slip in conections for the big tube, compression fittings for the small.
