I have a 1955 Ford 650. I am replacing the carb.
The one on the tractor is a Marvel-Schebler TSX-
580, EAE-9510 D. 78E, Made in USA. I purchased a
new one that has the exact same numbers. It looks
identical to mine. The problem is the center to
center stud dim. on mine is 23/8 inches. The new
one is 21/4 inches. It want fit the intake
manifold. Why are they different with the same
number? Is there another number with this stud
spacing (23/8} that will fit my tractor> Mike

Can only guess as to why your two are as they are. Could be mis-marked, could be that somewhere in last 50 years the throttle body has been swapped, etc.
I am pretty sure that 580 is supposed to be 2 5/16 and NAA is 2 1/4. Many brands used M/S carbs with many different bolt spacings, including 2 3/8 and much wider. Some after market manifolds have slotted holes. You might consider slotting yours or swapping throttle bodies.

Thanks for the help. I found a TSX-765 that fits a
Ford 501 tractor. It has a bolt center to center
of 23/8 inches. Looks just like a TSX-580. Think
that will work? Mike

on't know for sure, but likely good chance. Might compare fuel line connections/size/etc. If TEXAS comes along he can probably tell you with certainty.
