Are these a known failure point on these tractors?
Does the big coil spring inside on these break or something?
I've had 3 of these that didn't work.
All the same.
Limp pedal.
Lays on the step plate.
No adjustment going to help.
Never had a problem on a 3000.
I will look in the manual but can you fix it from the right side?
Or do you have to pull the left trumpet and get at it that way?
I ran this 4000 rear end all winter plowing snow and used diff lock a lot.
Now it's limp.
Going to have to learn about them soon enough but the board's thoughts would be welcome.

I've never had to work on one, so I don't know. I can say that I've been around many 4000s, and have never seen a problem with the diff lock on one. Those rear ends were known to be fairly bullet proof, so much so that Cat was using them for a time in their backhoes.

I have seen a lot of broken rods where the springy thingy breaks, but not the actual diffy lock.

I can only assume the users were putting chains around the axle or something, to break the rod/springy thing.
