900 11 gallon Aftermarket Fuel Tank Threads

I purchased and aftermarket fuel tank for my 960 tractor. It has the hole on the right rear for use with an NAA style tractor. I thought this was a 3/8 pipe thread but I checked the threads and it is 5/8" fine thread. Does this make sense? I thought I could just buy a pipe plug to plug the extra hole. I can not find a plug that will work for the thread size.

I'd get a short 5/8" fine thread bolt (all threads, no unthreaded shank) and coat the threads with some sort of thread sealer. Screw it in, let it sit until the sealer dries and then fill it with gas.

If it's a sae thread just buy a short bolt, goop it up with pipe dope an tighten'er up.Maybe put an o ring on it too.Good Luck.

A 16MM copper sealing washer should not be that hard to come by,,, Toyota are Honda (best guess Honda) uses them on there fuel filters...
