4200/5200 production dates

Saw this 4200 on Craigslist last week, and happened to see it along the road yesterday, so I stopped to look. Every source I've seen has always said that 4200 and 5200 production started in '67, yet the ad claims this to be a '66. Checking against my serial number list, it is a '66 serial number, and Sept. 30 of '66 seems pretty early for '67 model year production...for tractors, anyway.
Anyone else have an early 4200 or 5200 they can post serial or unit numbers from, just for comparison?

No... that's probably good as a 67 model year. Ford generally introduced the new model anywhere after late August I think depending on the show schedules...

My 4200 row crop gas tricycle is serial number C153419 and has a production code of 6K14 on it. So you tell me is this a 1966 or 1967?

(quoted from post at 10:33:22 10/12/14) Mine is 44024E

S/N C1377776E9

Which computes to a '69

.

44024E is the model number for a pre-April 1968 4400, not a 1969 4200 row crop. It would start with a D instead of a 4 if it was later than 3/31/68. If it's a row crop and it has that model stamped on the transmission, then the transmission was replaced at some point with one from a 4400.

The S/N would be the first 7 characters, C137777, which should be a 1966 serial number, and the Unit Number of 6E9 says that it was made on May 9, 1966, so the serial number agrees with the unit number.

FF, If I understand the comments below, concerning serial numbers, and your serial # (as pictured) ends with 6J30, that would mean a production date of Sept 30, 1966.

Edit: Oops, sorry! You already said that, didn't you!
I guess the only thing I can add is that the production code and date code, both on the same casting, would tend to indicate that they are legitimate!

6K14 would be Oct. 14, 1966, and my serial number list shows 1967 starting with C161300, so it looks like a '66 to me.
