i can't seem to find a simple man's explanation of how much of fleetguard dca4 to put in my 3600. do i have to put in just water and dca4? or if i put antifreeze also, can i use prestone? the bottle says to adjust using test strips to add the correct amount....?
thanks, david

Don't use Prestone, and don't bother with DCA4. Go to your local HD truck shop and get some diesel antifreeze, such as Fleetguard Complete. It will have everything you need already in it.

I already purchased the dca4, ordered it with some parts from new holland. i'd hate to just throw it away. there is a diesel truck place in town though.

if you don't hav ethe test strips and already hav ethe sca/dca addative, then just read the directions for volumetric mixing.. it SHOULD list them. the FP-15 CNH used to sellused to list them.

IE. so many ounces addative per so many gallons coolant.

Then just lookup your cooling system capacity, do some math and go.

The bottle may give you how many oz per gal to use. Look up your coolant capacity in your operator manual. So the math, don't over or under apply. If the bottle don't say, then just go to the mfgs website, look under FAQ. Tom

I've found Fleetgaurd DCA4 will require one unit per gallon to properly treat antifreeze that has no DCA. The bottle the DCA comes in will tell how many units is in it. The fleetgaurd test strips should be used as you want 2.5 to no more than 3.0 on the reading. Much more than 3.0 and it is hard on water pump seals. Best to drain and mix if the coolant is already in the engine as it is not good practice to just pour it in without mixing.
