slip clutch

Hi,
Is there a slip clutch designed to attach directly to the tractor pto, instead of the usual slip clutch that attaches to the implement? Thought it would be nice to just leave it attached to the tractor. A guy from tractor supply (on the phone) said they had one for that, but I'm guessing he confused it with an over-running clutch (though I tried to clarify that).

Why....?
There are many slip clutches made that have a 1-3/8" 6 spline coupler BUT they use two lock bolts that clamp them to the shaft. On the other end you would have a yolk or shaft tube depending on the application. I don't know of anything that is 6 spline in and out although I suppose you could devise something with a welder... but to do that on a tractor driveline will make it WAY too long behind the tractor to work safely. Much better to have the slip clutch mounted on the machine you're using rather than the tractor.

Not to mention ,each implement will probably use a different size clutch as well as a different torque at which the clutch is to start to slip.

Mounting anything on the tractor pto messes up the ASAE drawbar to pto shaft dimensions that are critical to proper drive line operation.

Thanks Rod. Just was thinking it would be nice to have the slip clutch on the tractor rather than getting one (or switching) for each implement. I know it would in effect extend the pto length.
Here is a link to a 6-spline clutch on both sides from TSC, but is not recommended for the tractor pto shaft. I can see it would be more hazardous with the springs, but wondered if a smaller shielded version was out there designed for mounting to the tractor pto.
slip clutch 6spline

my jd 1517 batwing mower has a factory torque limiter ( slip clutch ) on the head o f the pto shaft that attaches right to the tractor pto. came like that from JD.
tsc has it. on the shelves here in florida too..

Not a good idea.

Cantilevered loads beyond the bearing increase the forces on the shaft. Such loads can cause fatigue related failures.
