Recently purchased a "New" to me 1958 ford 850. We took it out
on maiden voyage this weekend to deer lease. As we got to
going noticed a lot of heat coming off muffler and manifold. To
the point it is glowing red. Had issues with the excessive heat
causing tractor to vapor lock. I need help.. LOL. What causes
this and whats my options to remedy. Thank yall do much
ahead for any help.

It doesn't really matter as related to your problem but if it's an 850 it's a 1955, 1956, or 1957 model. In 1958 that tractor became the 851.

When the manifold is glowing red that means fuel is still burning inside the manifold. That means your timing is retarded and the fuel is not being ignited inside the cylinder at the proper time.

As Texas says no way it can be a 58 850 no such machine made.. As for manifold being hot timing maybe off or the exhaust system is clogged up

like said, retarded timing.
exhaust heated super hot, very loud exhaust, and a slight laboring at all working rpm's.( I understand that the last 2 symptoms might be hard to spot if you don't have a lot of tractors)
most common cause, a rusted, froze up, mechanical advance.
I go through a lot of tractors here and I don't think I've ever bought one where the advance mechanism didn't need at least a good cleaning.

Retarded timing, exhaust valve sticking, bad exhuast valve, tight exhaust valve, or plug not firing and dumping raw gas into the hot exhaust.

First thing is to make sure it's running on all four cylinders. It's actually difficult to tell when these tractors are missing. Pull one plug wire loose at a time (using insulated pliers made for this purpose). If the engine speed doesn't drop, that cylinder is dead.
