Ford 5000 resurection

The 5000 tractor optioned for grove use I mentioned in this forum before lives! We drove the 2 hours over there this Saturday and found that with all the rains, the tractor was in about 8 inches of standing water. Our work truck sank to the frame on the way in! Now we are in the middle of the swamp and very stuck, no choice but to resurrect the tractor which has been sitting for 6+ years. My son and I wadded in with all the tools, battery, fuel etc. and installed a new injector pump, filters and such. We bled the system and she fired up almost immediately! So two hours after arrival we had out ford 5000 pulling out the work truck with no effort at all. I have little experience with tractors so far. I believe I have a stuck clutch. Pedal feels fine but you really have play with it to get it in gear with out grinding. Seemed to work better by putting Hi/Lo in to neutral and then getting it into gear and then shift the Hi/Lo. Any thoughts on what to do?

I hadn't even thought of the pilot bearing. Never encountered that problem before. It would make sense since once I get it in gear it will stay stationary with out brake until I release the clutch. Still requires splitting the tractor unless it clears up I assume. I have a lot of blow by as well with no smoke out the pipe. I suspect some stuck rings, I should be able to get that to clear up. (I hope) Thanks

Where does the clutch engage.. maybe a clutch adjustment..

Other thoughts... lots of crud and rust on the flywheel will need to be burned off.. so using it should help... assuming the adjustment is correct.

Otherwise a bad spring in the pressure plate or a broken finger on it the pressure plate, a broken throughout bearing fork.

some of the 5000s had a ceramic clutch iirc.
