I have a 6 volt system on 601 selectospeed, it has been negative ground for as long as i have owned it, and worked fine...i began a restore, and wanted to get everything working on it, and thats when i discovered a problem.....the new fuel gauge is marked as positive ground. Is my tractor supposed to be positive ground, and if so do i only need to repolarize my charging system, or do i need to change out generator and regulator?

all pre 64 gassers were 6v + ground.

ALL diesels were 12v - ground.

all 65+ were - ground.

to swap polarity, change battery wireing, repolarize generator.

this assumes you have no odd custom solid state parts ( no 6v -gr ei, no 6v neg grnd alternator..e tc. etc.. )
