Ford 2110 Hydraulic Selector Lever position question

I finally received my operator and service manual to work from but have a question. My 1971 2110LCG looks to have a hydraulic selector shaft, but no lever. I'm trying to determine if the shaft is in the position control or draft control position.

Based on the photo, it looks like the set screw detent is at the top of the shaft, indicating it is in the draft control setting according to photos in the users manual. All I'm using the tractor for is a brush hog, so I think I need to move it to the position control setting - turning the shaft 90 degrees clockwise.

Can someone with knowledge of this confirm the position for me.

Thanks!

One other question. The manuals don't say anything about when the selector level should be moved.

Should the tractor be running or off? Does it matter? Drive line engaged, or neutral? Does it matter?

Thanks!

I think that you've basically got it figured out, except that I think that you need to turn the shaft counter-clockwise 90 degrees, not clockwise. It should only turn in one direction though, so try it in both directions. It may be stuck since it looks like it's been that way for a while. If it won't turn in either direction spray it with PB Blast a few times a day for several days and see if that loosens it up.

You should be able to turn it with the engine running or not running, and it has nothing to do with the drive train as the hydraulic pump is driven directly off of the engine, but I wouldn't do it when there was a heavy load on the arms just out of principal.

You are correct! It's in the equivalent of the down position now (draft), and would need to go counterclockwise. I'll give it a try.

Thanks!
