Can't start my Ford 4000 out of the blue. Has always started good. Won't fire, but spark to plugs ok, (blue). Need to tow but can't find any way to unlock the differential since it's a Select-O-Matic tranny. Anyone have any ideas?

Rodge,
Welcome to the Ford board.
The older 4 cylinder Fords have a traction disconnect on the Left side of the rear center housing.
The 3 cylinder Fords have about the same thing but it is on the Right side.
By the way,
There's no such thing as a Select-O-Matic transmission though Case did build a Case O matic.
Now repeat after me:
It's a Select O Speed.
It's a Select O Speed.
It's a Select O Speed.

(quoted from post at 18:27:17 09/21/14) First we need to know is it a 3cyl or 4cyl. They disconnect in different places.

41205 would be a '63-'64 4 cylinder 4000 ag chassis with S-O-S, 3 point hydraulics and a single speed 540 rpm independent PTO.

The traction disconnect is on the left side, back near where your left heel is when you're sitting on the tractor. If you don't have an owner's manual and a service manual, get them both. The procedure for using the traction disconnect should be in the owner's manual, but sooner or later you'll be needing the service manual as well.

Welcome, Rodge! For some reason your comment "out of the blue" struck my funny bone since it's a blue tractor.

Ultra spoke my sentiments well. It's a Select O Speed!

You do need to learn your tractor. The best way to do that is as has been suggested, manuals! However, for further clarification on the TDC (Traction Disconnect Coupling) on your tractor, it is operated by a small strap bolted to the round inspection cover that contains your hydraulic reservoir dipstick. Take the nut that secures the strap off and use the strap or a wrench to rotate the eccentric about 60 degrees clockwise. (It helps to gently rock the tractor back and forth by hand while rotating the eccentric). Be careful not to turn the TDC too far or the eccentric will disengage itself from the groove in the coupler and you'll have to remove the inspection cover to get it back together. Once the TDC is uncoupled, one can lock it in this position by turning the little strap over and fastening it back in place.
